Participation in the “ਪਹਿਲ – Ideathon for a Sustainable Future

A team of faculty members from the Department of RISE, CGC Landran, actively participated in the “ਪਹਿਲ – Ideathon for a Sustainable Future”, organised under the Environment Education Programme (EEP) of the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology, Chandigarh College of Technology, CGC Landran.

Ms. Sonia Jindal (Vertical Head, Drone Technology) and Mr. Satwinder Singh (Vertical Head, Advanced Manufacturing) under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Neha Sharma( Dean, Department of RISE ) presented their innovative concept titled “Fab ਇੱਟ: Waste to Wealth for Viksit Bharat”, focused on developing sustainable composite bricks from waste fabric, plastic, and agricultural stubble. The idea strongly aligned with the themes of Reducing Single-Use Plastics and Adopting Healthy Lifestyles, promoting circular economy practices and environmental responsibility.

The project highlighted an eco-friendly solution to tackle plastic pollution, textile waste, and stubble burning—transforming multi-source waste into durable construction materials. The team’s impactful presentation earned them the Third Prize at the Eco-Innovation Challenge 2026, reflecting their commitment to sustainable innovation and community-driven solutions.

This achievement underscores the importance of converting waste into valuable resources to build a cleaner, greener, and more resilient future. Such initiatives demonstrate the vital role of academic institutions and young innovators in advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat by addressing environmental challenges through practical, scalable, and socially impactful technologies.
