Global Sustainability Frameworks: An Indian Perspective
The Department of RISE, CGC Landran is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone as our innovation “Garbage Can Picker” (Innovation ID: IR2024-924397) has reached the Final Round in BOTH national initiatives: YUKTI Innovation Challenge (YIC) 2025; AICTE Productization Fellowship (APF) 2025. Organized under the MoE’s Innovation Cell and AICTE, these initiatives aim to identify, support and advance promising innovations from ideas towards practical, real-world applications. Garbage Can Picker is designed to address a critical challenge faced by sanitation workers by reducing the heavy drudgery, physical effort and contamination risks involved in manually emptying garbage bins at designated collection points. The innovation earned its place in the final round after successfully clearing the 1st Virtual Round and the physical evaluation at the AICTE IIC Regional Meet in Chandigarh—marking a significant step from an idea on paper towards national-level recognition and productization opportunities. A special note of gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Neha Sharma, Dean–R&D, CGC Landran, and Prof. (Dr.) Amresh Kumar, CEO, ACIC RISE Association, whose vision, leadership, mentorship and constant guidance have been instrumental in building an ecosystem where innovative ideas are nurtured, strengthened and given platforms to create real-world impact.
